Beach Energy Ltd (“Beach”) is the operating partner for Petroleum Exploration Permit 171 (“PEP 171”), which was granted by the Victorian Government in August 2013. The permit is located in far-west Victoria along the South Australian border, as shown on the map below.

Under the conditions of the permit, and to support the ongoing supply of natural gas to the east coast market, Beach is planning to undertake a land-based seismic survey known as the Sparger Seismic Survey. The survey will use advanced 3D seismic technology to improve understanding of the subsurface and help identify potential new gas reservoirs within PEP 171. The survey area covers approximately 180 square kilometres in the Lake Mundi region.

Seismic surveys are a reliable non-invasive process used to develop detailed images of subsurface geology. The Sparger Seismic Survey is expected to commence late March 2026 and will take approximately 6-8 weeks to complete, subject to site conditions, including weather.

Beach operates in a highly regulated industry and must meet strict environmental and safety requirements before any seismic activity can begin.

Minimising disruptions to landholders, farming operations and the broader community is a key priority. Beach will continue to engage directly with the stakeholders to keep them informed about survey activities and timeframes.
